Eggshell calcium is probably the best natural source of calcium, and it is easier for your body to digest and absorb.


Please note this is not a cure for low bone density but may help as part of a treatment package.

This makes a version of calcium citrate - which is said to be one of the easiest calciums to absorb. What matters is not only how much calcium you take but how much you absorb and use.

Please only use this recipe in consultation with your Doctor or bone specialist and monitor your progress


METHOD

Carefully fill a wide mouth jar with one clean, whole, uncracked egg. (make sure the egg shells are clean/sterilised first) You can use any kind of egg (chicken, goose, duck), but it is best to use organic or certified organic eggs from free-range birds. If the bird does not get proper nutrients the eggshells won’t contain the nutrients we need.

Cover the egg with freshly squeezed lemon juice. 3 whole lemons generally cover egg.

Close the jar tightly and place in the refrigerator. (Slowly, you should start to see bubbles forming on the egg shells, then the egg shells dissolving and finally the mixture turning white).

Gently agitate the jar a few minutes about 3 times a day. (The mixture will slowly turn white with the calcium from the egg shell. As soon as the bubbling has stopped, your lemon egg is ready.)


It should take no longer than 36 - 48 hours for the action to be completed. If you leave the mixture for longer, it will tend to get thick and the eggs will begin to absorb more of the lemon juice taste.

Carefully remove the eggs and use them as normal.

There should still be a soft membrane around the eggs but no shell as this has dissolved into the lemon juice to make calcium citrate.

Place a tight lid on the mixture that remains after the eggs have been removed and shake well.

Take no more than one teaspoon per day initially because it can be very powerful.

Start slowly.

Take the mixture for two weeks, and then leave off for two weeks.

Don't heat. If you take this solution to boiling point it would be useless. The bonds have been changed and the body can no longer use the calcium.

Eggshell powder is a natural source of calcium and other elements (e.g. strontium and fluorine) which may have a positive effect on bone metabolism. Experimental and clinical studies performed to date have shown a number of positive properties of eggshell powder, such as antirachitic effects in rats and humans. A positive effect was observed on bone density in animal models of postmenopausal osteoporosis in ovariectomized female rats. In vitro eggshell powder stimulates chondrocyte differentiation and cartilage growth. Clinical studies in postmenopausal women and women with senile osteoporosis showed that eggshell powder reduces pain and osteoresorption and increases mobility and bone density or arrests its loss. The bioavailability of calcium from this source, as tested in piglets, was similar or better than that of food grade purified calcium carbonate. Clinical and experimental studies showed that eggshell powder has positive effects on bone and cartilage and that it is suitable in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

NUTRITION INFO
One whole medium sized eggshell makes about one teaspoon of powder, which yields about 750 – 800 mgs of elemental calcium plus other microelements, i.e. magnesium, boron, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, sulphur, silicon, zinc, etc. There are 27 elements in total. The composition of an eggshell is very similar to that of our bones and teeth. Elemental Amount: Eggshells contain calcium carbonate, and approximately 40% of it is absorbable. The amount absorbed is called the elemental amount.
Minerals also require acid in order to be absorbed, so taking them with vitamin C is important.
