Restoration of a 1966 Norton Atlas motorcycle

Описание к видео Restoration of a 1966 Norton Atlas motorcycle

In 1976 I swapped the Gilera Saturno you see in the first frames of this slideshow for a 1966 Norton Atlas that was very well kept and perfectly functioning. I'm not sure what made me open her up and check the engine and gearbox. The engine did show almost no signs of wear. In spite of that, in 1977, I changed the crankshaft bearings, connecting rod bearings, had the cylinder barrels reground to the next measure, put in new pistons, new valves, valve springs and guides. The gearbox was in perfect condition and apart from a bearing and an oil-seal, it required no attention at all.
Then, when approximately a third of the work was done, I put the Atlas back in boxes, with the excuse that I didn't have enough time to finish the job.
In October 2014, 37 years later, I picked up the unfinished job and started out with the preparation of a thorough paint job.
Check out the video the see the whole story of the restoration.
