Chicago blues veterans, vocalist / guitarist John Primer and harmonicist Bob Corritore, collaborated for the third time on "The Gypsy Woman Told Me", the title and song from the famous Muddy Waters catalog. Both headliners won BMAs and have joined before in Ain't Nothin 'You Can Do 2017 and Knockin' Around These Blues 2013. While Primer tours with his Real Deal Blues Band, Corritore hosts many artists and owns from the main blues spot in Phoenix, The Rhythm Room. However, the two are frequent collaborators because they understand the language and there are not many who continue to play in the traditional style. John Primer is a familiar face for anyone who has followed the Chicago blues scene for the past 30 years. He worked with Muddy Waters, Magic Slim and Junior Wells, as well as leading his own hardcore blues group. Tradition, style, mentor, leader, storyteller, veteran - all of these words describe bluesman John Primer. Bob Corritore is a Blues Music Award winner who has appeared with Louisiana Red, Bo Diddley, Pinetop Perkins, Ike Turner, Nappy Brown and Eddy Clearwater. Bob Corritore has always been one of my favorite harp players. Bob has a great tone and phrasing and unbelievable vibrato. Both musicians have credibility to spare and take back any blues player they would like to call their own. Its combined potency and reverence for the blues shape. Produced by Bob Corritore, Clarke Rigsby and Kid Andersen, 'The Gypsy Woman Told Me' is the third combined effort of Primer and Corritore and proudly showcases players' talents and commitment. One of the most amazing tracks from "The Gypsy Woman Told Me", "Same Old Blues" by JJ Cale, Corritore and Primer dial funk and blues to practically deadly levels, she received a cool and relaxed treatment that again leaves the harp of Corritore in dark tones shine intensely. Primer's soft, economical guitar style fits the song perfectly and enhances its swampy attitude, and Kid Andersen's organ puts on some funk and Jimi "Primetime" Smith joins the guitar on JJ Cale's fun cover. As we are used to, John Primer and Bob Corritore play together in such a comfortable and perfect way that you will feel transported back to the height of Chess Chicago's blues sound. It is pure, refreshing, sincere and moving. This album will scratch your itch for the Blues. So don't hesitate to listen today to the music you will still hear in the future. "The Gypsy Woman Told Me" is a nice gem from start to finish. Primer shows us that he is not slowing down ... not at all, and Bob Corritore taking part of the way with brilliant harmonic solos. Both are legends of today who have invested their lives playing true Chicago blues music that honors the giants of the past decades, while giving new life to this important American cultural institution. He is one of the first candidates for the blues album of the year. Too good!!!
