Mekosuchus was a small, fully terrestrial crocodilian that lived in Australia and the island chains of Vanuatu and New Caledonia. The last Mekosuchus populations survived on these islands until just a few thousand years ago, making it the last fully terrestrial crocodylomorph. Even odder, some paleontologists have suggested that this land crocodile may have been arboreal, meaning it spent much of its time in the tree.
