After reading the novel 'The price of Freedom' (official novel by Disney, set before the events of the POTC movies happen) I got a whole new view on Jack Sparrow. Which led to making this video.

I won't spoil anything about the novel but if you are a POTC fan it is a must read! I'm NOT a bookworm at all, it could take me months to finish a 200 page book. But I finished this book (which is 650+ pages long) within a week. If I didn't have such a busy school schedule I would've probably finished it within 2 days. But that's ofcourse if you are a hard core pirates fan.

UPDATE: this video was made before the release of the fifth movie. Which I, as a major Pirates fan, was severely disappointed with. I have watched the movies 1-4 so many times I can't even keep count, I have unconsciously memorized a lot of scenes and lines by heart. That while I only watched the fifth one TWICE, cringing heavily through both times (especially during Jack's parts). The only things I liked in this movie were Barbossa's scenes and Elizabeth and Will's reunion at the end. But Jack? Don't get me started. That wasn't Jack. This video shows how I see Jack. Underneath his hysterical one-liners and all of his other madness that makes Jack, well, Jack. I see a very intelligent (he has excellent improvisation skills and always thinks two steps ahead of everyone) man. Who also shows his emotional side from time to time. Jack had a lot of layers in the other movies, especially in the first one. What I saw in the fifth one was the mad hatter dressed up as Jack Sparrow. No depth, no layers, just a drunk man trying to do an awful Jack Sparrow impression. The jokes weren't funny, his voice was totally different (more slurred and higher pitched, mad-hatter like) and the movements were totally over done. While I was sitting in the cinema I kept waiting for a moment where I could really see him, perhaps the big end fight? Jack didn't have one decent moment in this movie. The fifth one was a comedy, while the pirates movies are supposed to be epic adventure movies. Sorry for the long story but it is something I feel very strongly about, because it kind of ruined the character for me. I can think of a number of factors that could've caused this (Johnny was dealing with personal problems, the movie had different directors etc. etc.) but I just wanted to get this frustration out, share my opinion about the movie.
