If someone makes a lot of comments on your channel and the comments are not inappropriate, then you could mute that person so that you won't get notified each time that person makes a comment on your channel. If that person makes inappropriate comments, then it's better to hide that user instead. Important - the muted person will still be able to make comments on your channel but you'll just not be notified! Another important point is that, once you mute someone, it won't be very easy to unmute that person again. So, before muting someone, make sure you really want to mute that person. Then, in order to mute someone, on your YouTube home page, click on the notification bell icon, and then find the person you want to mute, then select the 3 dots, and select the option mute next to the channel's name. You'll have a very short time to undo you mute.
