Man. City comfortably qualified as unbeaten winners of Group C and then served notice of their intent with an eye-catching 4-2 aggregate defeat of Real Madrid in the round of 16.

Lyon were grateful to an unbeaten home record as they edged the runners-up spot in Group G with just eight points. However, the round of 16 was a different story as they survived a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired comeback to oust Juventus on away goals.

Manchester City will be wary of a damaging banana skin as they prepare to face Lyon in a unique Champions League quarter-final.

The rejigged latter stages of the competition, originally put on hold in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, will feature one-legged ties from the last-eight onwards with all games taking place across two stadiums in Lisbon.

City believe, according to Kyle Walker, that there may be no better chance to win the competition and will be aware that Lyon avoided defeat over two games against Pep Guardiola's side last season.
