As a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or PCT (Patient Care Technician), measuring the radial pulse is a crucial skill for monitoring a patient’s heart rate ❤️.

A proper pulse check helps assess circulation, heart function, and overall health. In this video, we’ll walk you through how to locate, count, and document the radial pulse correctly! ✅

🛑 What You’ll Learn:
👋 What is the Radial Pulse? – Why it's important for patient care 💓
📍 How to Locate the Radial Artery:

Position the patient's hand palm up ✋

Use index & middle fingers (NOT your thumb!) to feel the pulse ☝️☝️
⏳ How to Measure the Pulse Rate Accurately:

Count beats for 60 seconds 🕰️. Maintain light but firm pressure – don’t press too hard! 🤏 Don't forget to document the reading on the vital signs form.

Normal Adult HR: 60-100 BPM (🟢 Healthy heart rate)
⚠️ Tachycardia (Fast Pulse): Over 100 BPM (🟡 Possible distress)
🚨 Bradycardia (Slow Pulse): Below 60 BPM (🔴 Report immediately!)

Factors Affecting Heart Rate:
Exercise 🏃‍♂️, Stress 😰, Medications 💊, Fever 🤒, Heart Conditions ❤️
