(6 Jun 2017) British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday called US President Donald Trump's Twitter attacks on London Mayor Sadiq Khan "wrong".
Speaking during a campaign event in Bangor, May said party politics are "put to one side" in the response to the London Bridge terror attack.
The Prime Minister did not directly answer the original question on whether a state visit by the US President, slated to go ahead later this year, should still go ahead.
Trump attacked Khan on Twitter in the aftermath of the attack in London on Saturday night, tweeting criticisms of the London Mayor on both Sunday and Monday, including an inaccurate statement that the mayor was telling people there was "no reason to be alarmed" about the attack.
May said she had ensured that police and security services have the right powers to deal with terrorist incidents and, if re-elected on Thursday, she would continue to offer support.
The Prime Minister took aim at the leader of the opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, suggesting he did not support a shoot-to-kill policy and that his parliamentary track record would weaken Britain's ability to respond to terrorism.
Security has become a key issue in the run-up to Thursday's general election in the UK.
