PV System Yield: Course Photovoltaics #36

A yield forecast of a PV system is usually based on global irradiation data, which are converted to the tilted surface. With this data, the ideal energy yield can be calculated rather quickly.
However, in real system a number of losses occur, depending on the location and the system components. The sum of all system losses is described by the performance ratio, which can however only be roughly estimated.
For an exact calculation of the yield, simulation programs are used. These programs contain databases of the different system components and assist in component selection and correct system design.
