🌿 The Base Gateway and the Fight/Flight/Freeze Response 🌿
The Base Gateway is a critical access point in the Spinal Flow Technique, located at the base of the spine. It plays a vital role in your body’s survival mechanisms, regulating the fight, flight, or freeze response that is triggered when you encounter stress or danger. This response is an innate part of our nervous system, designed to protect us from harm by mobilising energy and resources when needed.
An easy way to understand the Base Gateway is to think of a dog’s tail. When a dog feels safe and relaxed, its tail wags playfully, and the dog is inquisitive and curious. However, when it feels threatened or unsafe, the tail tucks in - signaling fear, timidity, or even aggression. Similarly, when our Base Gateway is in balance, we feel grounded and calm. But when stress accumulates, we may feel overwhelmed, defensive, or disconnected.
🚨 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁/𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁/𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲:
𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: The body prepares to confront the threat, increasing adrenaline, heart rate, and muscle tension.
𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: The body mobilises energy to escape or flee from danger.
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲: The body temporarily shuts down or immobilises to avoid detection or conserve energy.
While these responses are essential for survival, prolonged activation due to chronic stress can lead to various health issues, including fatigue, anxiety, digestive problems, headaches and muscle tension. The Base Gateway often stores this accumulated stress, creating blockages that disrupt the flow of energy and communication within the nervous system.
𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
Do you often feel stressed, tired, or overwhelmed?
Have you experienced anxiety or depression?
Do you suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, or other autoimmune disorders that cause pain?
Do you feel ungrounded or as though you've lost touch with the earth and present-day reality?
By addressing blockages in the Base Gateway, we can help bring balance to the nervous system and shift the body from a survival state (fight/flight/freeze) into a state of ease and healing. Clients often experience a sense of grounding, relaxation, and renewed vitality after addressing imbalances in this area.
If you find yourself stuck in survival mode or experiencing symptoms like chronic tension, fatigue, or emotional overwhelm, consider booking a Spinal Flow session to restore balance and harmony within your body.
