🌸 What is an Endometrial Biopsy? 🌸

An endometrial biopsy is a quick, in-office procedure where a small sample of tissue is taken from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) to check for abnormal cells, hormone effects, or signs of infection. Your provider may recommend this test if you have:

🔹 Abnormal menstrual bleeding
🔹 Bleeding after menopause
🔹 No uterine bleeding (amenorrhea)

The biopsy can help diagnose conditions like fibroids, polyps, infections (like endometritis), or even endometrial cancer, which is the most common cancer of the female reproductive organs. However, it's no longer a routine test for infertility workups.

⚠️ Possible risks include minor bleeding, infection, or (rarely) a puncture of the uterine wall. If you’re pregnant or have allergies to medications, iodine, or latex, be sure to tell your provider beforehand.

💡 Getting ready? You may not need special prep, but your provider might suggest taking a pain reliever before the procedure.
