The Chinese car manufacturer BYD wants to make a big impact on the German market – and is presenting the Sealion 7 crossover model. Here are just a few personal impressions from the first drive with the 4.83 meter long electric car: This four-door car offers passengers a pleasing amount of space in the front and back, and the trunk/ frunk should be suitable for luggage even on long trips. The voice assistant does its job as well as entertainingly. A few fine-tuning is still missing here and there, for example on the gaps between the door panels and handles. The price (starting at just under 48,000 euros) and the range of up to 500 kilometers on one battery charge (Manufacturer's information! Haven't tried it myself yet!) are eye-catching. By the way: BYD design chief Wolfgang Egger is responsible for the pleasing design language of the vehicle, who in previous years had already "brought Seat, Alfa Romeo and Audi into line" with his teams. In China, BYD is a big name in car sales. Not here in Germany. But in my opinion, that can still happen – the Sealion 7 is a serious electric vehicle. And for some people f. e. interested in a Tesla Model Y or E-5008 from Peugeot, it may be a Far Eastern alternative.
