Climbing at Rhossili Beach - Gower Peninsula - South Wales - Fistful of Tenners 4c ***

Welcome to Up and Around.

We’re in south Wales on the Gower peninsula attending the British Mountaineering Counsel’s Gower climbing festival.

It’s day two and we’ve headed out early to chase the lowering tide and get onto the sea cliffs at Rhossili beach before the rush.

There is a National Trust carpark at Rhossili. From there, take the well signed footpath down to the beach and make your way left across to the sea cliffs.

This is of course a tidal area and the sea cliffs are only accessible for a maximum of 3 hours either side of the low tide, with mermaid cove only being fully accessible for 4 hours total. So check the tide tables and plan accordingly and keep an eye out for the approaching tide allowing sufficient time to retreat.

We’ve moved around the point to Mermaid Cove where many of the BMC Gower Climbing Festival attendees have now gathered. There are some amazing sport routes on this stretch of sea cliffs.

We have chosen to climb Fistful of Tenners which is a 4c *** route
