Le Miró de La Colombe d’Or

Stay tuned! On 20 October 2023, Christie's Paris will be offering the exceptional ‘Peinture (Femme, lune, étoiles)’ by Joan Miró in the Avant-Garde(s) sale. Today, La Colombe d'Or houses a remarkable art collection of the greatest names of the 20th century where Miró's painting is one of its most cherished treasures. Impressive in size, this dynamic composition is one of the so-called highly elaborate and carefully conceived ‘slow paintings’ (J. Dupin) executed by Miró in 1949. This work epitomises his signature visual language, which he had formulated in his famous "Constellations" series produced in Varengeville in 1940. This masterwork is one of the rare museum-quality pieces by Joan Miró left in private hands.
