In a relatively short period of time, electric vehicles (EVs) have made significant progress. Since the ambitious Silicon Valley firm Tesla Motors exposed the world to an electric automobile that is capable of traveling more than 300 miles on a single charge, it has been almost a decade since the company released its first vehicle. Since that time, Elon Musk and Tesla have been successful in persuading a large number of skeptics that electric vehicles are not only here to stay, but that they have the potential to become the transportation revolution of the future.

At very different rates, several automobile manufacturers have joined the electric vehicle trend. Take, for instance, the Nissan Leaf, which made its debut in 2010 and went on to become the all-electric vehicle that sold the most units worldwide for a period of duration. After then, competition came from the BMW i3, as well as the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt and its all-electric replacement, the Chevy Bolt EV. However, the Tesla Model 3 has been the only vehicle that has been able to successfully supplant the Leaf as the most popular electric vehicle. New models such as the Hyundai Kona Electric and the Kia Niro EV are competing in the entry-level category, and new models such as the Audi e-Tron, Porsche Taycan, or Jaguar I-PACE are fighting with Tesla at the top end of the market. As we move into a new decade, electric vehicles are expected to continue their upward trend.


Within the electric vehicle market, there is a significant opportunity for expansion and growth due to the fact that there are still entire categories of vehicles that do not have an electric version, such as pick-up trucks and inexpensive SUVs. For the time being, Tesla is still leading the way in the electric car industry; but, legacy manufacturers are preparing to electrify their fleets, and promising startups such as Rivian and Byton are waiting in the wings with exciting new electric vehicles.

The national electrification strategy of the United States government may cause plans to be altered, despite the fact that two of the most prominent players in the global electric vehicle (EV) market are keen to expand their collaboration for mutual benefits.


The Chinese media reports that Tesla and CATL are now working on a new battery that will be referred to as M3P. The two companies intend to use this battery in Tesla automobiles, but there has been no confirmation of this yet. The battery, on the other hand, has reportedly already began testing on a car that was jointly created by Chery, which is a state-owned automobile manufacturer, according to reports from the local media.
