Islanding a Microgrid

Distributed energy resources on a campus can interact with one another to supply power to buildings, even if the serving utility’s grid goes down. This animation simulates grid-connected and islanded energy flows among distributed energy resources at a military base. With a diverse set of distributed energy resources (such as solar PV, wind, energy storage, generators, and others), any campus can use a microgrid to manage and sustain building energy loads for a significant period of time.
