👉Story-NARRATER - There is a green village named Naseebpur. Nasibpur High School is the only
school in that village. Budhan is a student of class eight in the same school. Budhan's father
Dukhiram is a cobbler. If anyone's shoe slipper gets torn in the whole village, it is Dukhiram's job
to fix it and polish it. this job paid very little. They used to get so little money that they didn't even
have two meals a day apart from Budhan's study. Dukhi Ram's wife Vimla does all the
household chores and never complains even after suffering so much. Both have only one
dream, to make Bubhan a good person by being well-educated. Bhudhan has only one torn old
shoe that it wears to school. His father has stitched that shoe so many times that there is no
place for the needle to go through. That's why Dukhiram cries out to God.
DUKHIRAM - O God, how many more miseries are there to see? I always work honestly, in any
weather, rain, or storm, I fix everyone's shoes, and today my only son does not have good
shoes to wear. Let alone shoes, I can't even feed him properly. There is no money in hand this
month. How many more days God, have mercy on us, Lord. We can't stand it anymore..
NARRATOR - Dukhiram prays to God and goes to work with the stale bread and jaggery given
by Vimla.
