In the spring of 2018, God gave Jake and Kassi Baird a dream of planting a church in a community that is “blue-collar, middle-class, hard-working, gritty, and had been through a lot, but is ready to come back from it.”

Pastor Jake stepped away from his role as a pastor at ITOWN Church in Fishers, Indiana, where he served for 7 years. They sold their home and bought a house in Wyandotte, Michigan. The Baird family began to lay down roots in the Downriver community and hosted a small group in their home. By the summer of 2019, this small group had outgrown their home, and Comeback City launched its first Sunday service to the public on September 22nd, 2019 in Southgate Anderson High School.

In March of 2020, Comeback City began to meet primarily online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In January of 2022, Comeback City moved into a permanent facility in the heart of downtown Wyandotte.

In January of 2022, we secured a permanent facility for Comeback City Church in the heart of Downtown Wyandotte. We opened our doors to the public in March of 2022 and began seeing people from all walks of life coming to hear the gospel of Jesus. Today, our church is growing, and many new people come to hear the Gospel each Sunday. Whether you’re new to church or have been walking with the Lord for a long time, you are welcome to come and see what God can do through you.

We believe that Jesus didn’t die so we could practice religion for him. He died so we could have a relationship with him. Our heart desires to help people find the freedom and life that Jesus paid for us to have. We invite you to come see for yourself what God can do with your life.
