Dutch Profiles: Li Edelkoort

Описание к видео Dutch Profiles: Li Edelkoort

Educated as a fashion designer in the seventies, Lidewij Edelkoort has long been one of the world's leading, and pioneering trend forecasters, owning two trend studios in Paris, and working for major brands like L'Oreal, Philips, and Coca-Cola.

Her influence on the Dutch design community cannot be overrated. As chairwoman of the Design Academy in Eindhoven, she built an institute with a very strong profile and positioned it as a quality brand of Dutch design.

Here in Milan, she curated the show, Talking Textiles, for the Salone del Mobile 2011. Edelkoort considers textiles to be an endangered species that will go extinct if we don't act fast.

Twice a year Lidewij Edelkoort and her team publish the horti-cultural bookazine Bloom, that charts the changing trends in flowers and the way their images are used.
Edelkoort sees a big paradox between an impending paradigm shift of how we shape our identities, and the current economic, environmental and geopolitical developments to which we as individuals stand powerless. A major global shake-up may be the only solution.
