Pray the Holy Rosary for the Dead

"The Christian meaning of death is revealed in the light of the Paschal Mystery of the Death and Resurrection of Christ in whom resides our only hope. The Christian who dies in Christ Jesus is 'away from the body and at home with the Lord' (2 Cor 5:8)."

"At the death of a Christian, whose life of faith was begun in the waters of Baptism and strengthened at the Eucharistic table, the Church intercedes on behalf of the deceased because of its confident belief that death is not the end, nor does it break the bonds forged in life. The Church also ministers to the sorrowing and consoles them in the funeral rites with the comforting Word of God and the Sacrament of the Eucharist." -USCCB -Order of Christian Funerals, no. 4

How the Rosary for the Dead is different from the regular Rosary:
• The Glorious Mysteries are commonly prayed during the Wake because they help us focus on the Resurrection and Life After Death.
• After praying each decade, the “Eternal Rest Prayer” is prayed for the deceased instead of the “Fatima Prayer”.
• In the concluding prayers, “Psalm 130”, prayer for pardon and mercy, is prayed instead of the “Hail, Holy Queen Prayer”.

Pray the Holy Rosary for the Dead:
• Pray during a Prayer Vigil.
• Pray during a Catholic Wake before the funeral.
• Pray on the Anniversary of the death of the deceased.
• Pray during the month of November for the Souls in Purgatory.
• Pray on All Souls’ Day.

Prayer for the Dead

In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them eternal rest.
The old order has passed away:
welcome them into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,
but fullness of peace and joy
with your Son and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever.

I made this prayer video in loving memory of my wonderful twin brother who passed away on September 23, 2020. He will be missed by his three children, all of his family, and countless friends from all over the country. This Rosary is a gift to our parents and our sister who have known and loved him from the start. Our parent's heartbreak will remain until they are joined with him in Heaven, but they are strong in faith and love.
I miss him desperately, will pray for him always, and will love him for eternity. I look forward to being reunited with him in Heaven when God calls me home; then my heart will be whole again.
I promise to pray for your departed loved ones as I pray for mine.
