Behind the Scenes at Sony's Pixomondo Virtual Soundstage (OSVP like The Volume)

Описание к видео Behind the Scenes at Sony's Pixomondo Virtual Soundstage (OSVP like The Volume)

We take you on a quick back-stage tour of Sony Pictures' Pixomondo Virtual Soundstage, which has been used as the backdrop for movies and TV shows such as "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and "House of the Dragon."

What's a virtual soundstage, you might ask? Well, making movies and TV shows is hard (and expensive). But a new technology called "On Set Virtual Production" (OSVP) is making things a bit easier (and cheaper). Combining a practical/physical set with a massive LED video wall allows film-makers to create a virtual set that can replicate virtually any environment, from outer space, to a different planet, to a fantastical land of dragons and magic. The first of these was called "The Volume" and it was used for the Star Wars series, "The Mandalorian." But other companies have been quick to follow suit.

Pixomondo is Sony's version and it uses the Unreal Engine to render an animated 3D virtual backdrop. Pixomondo's massive screen wall (and ceiling) comprises 1400 individual microLED screens to create one convincing virtual world.

From the same Pixomondo set, check out Sony's 2024 TVs and Soundbars.
