This is why I travel. While traveling through Vietnam, a sweet 12-year-old-girl walked up and said hello. After a sweet conversation it was time for her to leave, but we became 'Facebook friends' and had a friendly back-and-forth. A couple weeks later I received an unexpected invitation; come stay overnight at her family's home, three hours outside the city by local bus!
I immediately said yes.

In this video I share the story, and about the the authentic and caring hospitality of the Vietnamese people. The story is followed by some of the unedited (blooper style) footage from that trip!
The Vietnamese welcomed me, a stranger, into their home with open arms. I was fed, and shown around, made to feel comfortable, and given a bed to sleep in. It was a priceless gift and glimpse into local life that you cannot find in a guidebook or a tour.
