Artist, producer, and DJ Hugo Capablanca likes to call himself an "eternal amateur"—and for good reason. A rebel, an outsider, yet a mainstay of the Berlin underground for well over a decade (now relocated to Lisbon), Hugo was recently described by Resident Advisor as "an underground music hero playing by his own cosmic rules," and there's quite some truth to that.

Capablanca has extensively toured worldwide, gracing the most revered DJ booths, from Panorama Bar in Berlin to Bassiani in Tbilisi, Vent in Tokyo, and Public Records in NY. He’s shared stages with legends like DJ Harvey, Tom Of England, Andrew Weatherall, and Optimo, to name a few, yet his name remains somewhat an "IYKYK" thing.

His DJ sets, studio productions, and live performances—be it under his own name or together with Marc Piñol as C.P.I.—reflect a distinct psychedelic energy, fusing diverse sonic styles and genres that generate surprising dynamics. This frontal rejection of stylistic reductionism is also perfectly mirrored in Ediciones & Discos Capablanca, the record labels he’s been curating for over 15 years.

藝術家、製作人兼 DJ Hugo Capablanca 喜歡稱自己為「永恆的業餘愛好者」——這是有原因的。他既是叛逆者、局外人，卻也在柏林地下樂壇活躍了十餘載（現已移居里斯本）。Resident Advisor 近期將他形容為「一位遵循自身宇宙法則的地下音樂英雄」，這份描述可謂精準。

Capablanca 的足跡遍布全球頂尖舞池，從柏林的 Panorama Bar 到提比里斯的 Bassiani、東京的 Vent，乃至紐約的 Public Records。他曾與 DJ Harvey、Tom Of England、Andrew Weatherall 和 Optimo 等傳奇人物同台獻技，儘管如此，他的名字某種程度上仍是「懂的人自然懂」的存在。
