On February 11, DPOB hosted a virtual information session about its newest initiative — the Downtown BOOST Program: Presented by Fearless. BOOST was created to support the long-term success of Baltimore-based, Black entrepreneurs.

Here's the questions you'll find answered in this video...
Will more properties be added to the list of those qualifying for the Boost program?
Will there be a time frame to utilize the grant?
Many businesses might need more funding, will this program recommend or link entrepreneurs to other overarching funding sources?
I have 1 1/2 employees. Will we still qualify?
Can/should this be the second location for the store?
What would be an example of a novel food service facility?
Do you see a role for design professionals in this process, for example matching them with successful applicants as part of the technical support?
What are lease terms?
Would a mental health business be able to apply? We are a mental health business that has a nonprofit that provides community programs that could be helpful to the development of the community.
What are some automatic disqualifies?
Would we be able to view the storefront locations?
Will you consider service based businesses such as Nurse Staffing Agencies?
I don’t have any employees, but my growth plan does include hiring people. If I outline this in my application, will it be considered?
Clarifying question— are you awarding 9 people/businesses?
Based on last year being a pandemic year which impacted our business tremendously we would not have a full year of finances. Would we still qualify?
Would a plant-based, health and wellness company be considered?
I have another location that has VERY long hours (airport 5am-12mn) when you want us to be an “open store” are there a minimum amount of hours a week/day that you all have in mind?
Does the 2nd employee have to be full-time, or would contractors that I commission throughout the year qualify?
If you are not selected for the first round. Will there be an opportunity to work together with you all to be more attractive for the next round?
If I am not chosen for the cohort is there an opportunity to volunteer? I think it's important to build with other like minded individuals even if it's giving my time freely.
If someone applies during the first round and is not selected, will they have to apply again during subsequent rounds?
