I’ve been reflecting on how every step matters - putting one foot forward, consistently:

I went to a state school in a village and didn’t know anyone in media. So I knocked on doors, figured out what skills I needed, and went and got them through work experience or sometimes just with my phone and laptop.

I chose to see obstacles as opportunities. Not knowing how to break into the industry meant I had to seek answers. That also helped build my confidence in going to new places and talking to new people.

When I didn’t have a skill? I learned it. When I didn’t have a camera? I borrowed one from university and taught myself how to use it. Rejections? I saw as a form of connection - one more person now knew my name. It also helped build resilience to not give up, alongside hope from progress I had made that “no” didn’t have to mean forever but maybe for the moment.

When the grass grows, you find the tools and tend to it. That’s what I’ve done in life - found the tools, taken the next step, and carved my path.

One thing that’s always helped me? I haven’t been in a rush. I’ve enjoyed learning, growing, and doing - and also enjoying and feeling grateful for where I am.

I don’t believe in waiting until you feel ready - I believe in preparing so you’re ready for when the opportunity comes after you’ve sought it out. Step by step, by step.
