Another aspect of the majestic Looking Glass Rock is beholding the massive rock dome from ground level. Though primarily used for rock climbing, there are other trails in the Pisgah National Forest that are much shorter than hiking to the top of Looking Glass Rock and offer the unique perspective of seeing the rock jut up 600 feet into the air.

At the time of this video, AllTrails did not have the Sunwall trail registered, but the Gaia app did. It's only 1 mile, out and back, so you probably won't need a trail map. The important thing is knowing where to go.

Entering the forest near Brevard, pass the Pisgah Ranger Station (Visitors' Center) on your right. Travel a few miles and take a left onto Forest Rd. 475 towards the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education. As soon as you're in front of the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education, there is a road the veers off to the right. It's a gravel road and this is the road that will lead you to Slick Rock Falls, the Sunwall Trail, and other destinations).
