After years of improper washing and care, this classic 1986 Ferrari Testarossa had lost a lot of its luster. Swirls covered the entire body of the car, with dirt and grime caking some of the harder to reach spots. With a Ferrari Concours event coming up, it was time to make this Testarossa look as good as possible with an extensive exterior detail and paint correction procedure. The steps involved are as follows:

Wheel cleaner: Our proprietary MD Wheel Cleaner is designed to loosen up brake dust, tar, and other road debris that accumulates on the wheels over time.

Snow Foam: Prior to the hand wash, the car goes through a preliminary snow foam wash. This removes the top layer of dirt, while also serving to loosen up the lower layers to reduce any chance of wash swirls during the hand wash.

Gentle Hand Wash: With our hand wash, we remove the rest of the dirt and grime from the car, making sure to pay close attention to the tighter spots that are often easily missed. Using the two bucket method ensures that we are not washing the car with a mitt full of contaminants that could potentially damage the paint.

Paint Depth Inspection: Since polishing is a subtractive process, there is a finite number of times a car can be safely polished. Measuring the depth of the paint prior to polishing ensures that there is enough paint to safely polish out the swirls and scratches.

Badge Removal: In order to achieve a uniform finish on the paint, badges must be removed so there are no obstructions.

Autoscrub: While our hand wash does a good job of cleaning the car, there are always contaminants left on the paint that need to be removed before polishing. Using a lubricant, the Autoscrub is able to remove all of these contaminants for a perfectly clean surface to polish.

Wet Sanding: Paint is not always perfect from the factory. In this case, there was a bit of orange peel on the A-Pillars creating an uneven paint surface. Wet sanding is done prior to polishing in order to knock down the high spots in the paint, creating an even surface.

Paint Correction: Our paint correction is a 3 step process. We start by polishing using a compound with large abrasives to remove the deeper scratches and paint swirls. The next step is to use a much less aggressive polishing compound to remove the lighter scratches and swirls, along with anything left behind by step 1. Finally, a finishing compound is used to really bring out the luster in the paint, giving it a glass-smooth and mirror-like finish.

Wheel Clean and Protection: The wheels are removed to clean off any leftover brake dust, dirt, road debris, etc. Once they have been thoroughly cleaned, the wheels receive a coat of C.QUARTZ DLUX Wheel Coating to help keep them clean, and to also make cleaning easier in the future.

C.Quartz FINEST Reserve: Once the paint has been polished and is looking as good as it can, it's important to lock in and protect the finish. C.Quartz FINEST Reserve is a ceramic coating that creates a protective, hydrophobic layer on top of the paint, while also adding depth and gloss for an immaculate finish.
