Art Attack [1] (c.2002) - near-full episode

Описание к видео Art Attack [1] (c.2002) - near-full episode

Neil Buchanan creates a monster for our bedrooms, takes inspiration from his local skateboard park, teaches us the value of sketching matchstick men first when drawing cartoons, and starts to carve an Aztec design in soap before the recording is unfortunately cut short. (Sorry!) I can't nail down a broadcast date, but I reckon 2002 is a decent estimate, give or take a year or two either side. With that in mind, I suppose the target audience for this upload is those born in the 80s or 90s. All are welcome, though.

I love Art Attack. I remember watching it when it first started, and I instantly loved it. It's one of the few shows I continued dipping in and out of when I grew out of children's telly (and before I grew back into it) - I really did love it that much. Not enough to ever try out any of the ideas myself, you understand, but nevertheless I still love Art Attack. I think people underestimate how good Neil was, and it's all presented in an accessible and entirely non-patronising way. Francis Wright is of course The Head - those taking notes will know he was in the likes of Grotbags (as Colin the Bat), Jays' World, Bug Alert, Wizadora, and plenty more. I also like those in-between bits, such as the "Squeezes" in this one, which I think is a completed picture being smeared under a pane of glass, and then reversed. Positively brimming over with creativity, this show.

Grateful thanks to Ben for providing this recording - please take the time to check out    / benriggers   when you get the chance.
