We Visit the Butterfly House at Williamson Park. We have a walk through the lovely grounds and get a look inside the Ashton Memorial.

The park was originally a quarry.

James Willamson Snr began the process
of developing a public park in the laste 1800’s

The family business was in linoleum and oil.
Lord Ashton took over the business and
expanded globally.

Ashton memorial was built in 1907 - 1909 by Lord Ashton in memory of his second wife. It stands at 150ft tall.

It has stunning marble floors and sweeping staircases and stunning views across to the Lake District.
