Creole Woman Reacts to Policing of Creole Woman’s Identity

Until Black Americans sit down and clearly define blackness FOR THEMSELVES & stop blaming a one drop rule that’s been abolished since 1967 for how some of them define blackness, then they can’t get mad at mixed people who choose identify as mixed nor black. White people know what whiteness looks like and they gatekeep it. If half of y’all are clinging on to the one drop rule and mixed people for dear life, then the other half of y’all can’t complain when mixed people feel like they have the right to identify as black. As long as you keep letting white people that aren’t even alive anymore dictate your own blackness to you, then you’ll never have control over not only who comes in & out of your own community, but who literally becomes the face of it 🤷🏻‍♀️
