Chaotic route, Chapter 3 (iirc).
This is the first map where you face a Terror Knight. Besides the two ghosts, my team hasn't got a single semi-decent tank (I guess you could say Archer and Dragoon could be seen as being pretty tankish, but not with the way I use them - a bow, an orb or two, and a Cure item). Do you have to equip the items you expect to use in the battle in the PSP version too? In the original you do, meaning you've got 4 spots for both equipments and items. I like to have a short sword and a short bow on most of my characters, so that they aren't slowed down by their weight too much and can heal when needed. I also distribute as many Orbs as possible, for extra agility.
A lot has changed in my party since the last video I showed. I kicked the Skeleton out because it spent most of the battles dead, therefore not levelling up at all, and it was too slow to make it to the frontline to receive the most critical attacks. Since the whole point of a Skeleton fighter is to tank hits and die, then resurrect after a couple turns, and it wasn't doing even that, I had no more use for him. If I did a run with training and grind permitted, he'd rank up somewhere in the upper intermediate tiers, but not on this one. I replaced him with another ghost (the one I invited in the previous vid, remember?).
I also reclassed my generic Wizard into a Lich. Lich is such an awesome class that I wish I had more. However, Byan being a special storyline character, making him a Lich would make him dead in the story, too. Lich has great INT growths (still lower than Siren iirc), has access to supplemental magic too (I like saving space for summons, though, which makes Lich a great boss killer), and he's also really sturdy when equipped with a good piece of armour, so he could go closer to the frontline without being afraid to die.
This is a rather tough map which explains why I have a Priest lady out. Priests are inferior healers to generic Clerics, because the former don't get access to Heal Plus, thus being unable to heal multiple characters at once. The benefit of having a Priest around is for Revivify, and this seemed like a massacre kind of battle (where enemies come at you from one direction all at once), when there's a great likelihood that somebody will die on the 2nd turn or so. However, somewhat surprisingly, I didn't lose anyone, though my Wizard survived with 2 HP after a direct attack later into the battle.
The map ends when the boss Zaebos is killed, but I want to recruit that Terror Knight first. Terror Knight has great growths in HP, attack and defence, and has a unique ability to induce fear in enemies in 3-range, reducing their attack. This makes it easy for a TK to land an attack and not worry about being countered, because the strength of the counter attack will be reduced by fear. Terror Knight's innate skill won't work on Chaotically alligned enemies, and is halved in effectiveness against Neutral enemies.
I reclass my MC into a Terror Knight later on in this run. Growing a character as a Ninja to make a fast, evasive Terror Knight is one of the best decisions to do during a Chaotic run IMO. Sure, a Berserker-trained TK will be far tankier, but will have trouble connecting his attacks on some more agile enemies and will take ages to move. And the MC needs to move a lot, in order to persuade enemies and get kills. Plus, Ninja growth offers a ton of speed, and speed is one attribute you can't increase with cards - Agility-boosting cards simply don't exist in the game. HP and defence problems can somewhat be remedied by cards, and as soon as you reclass to Terror Knight you get a noticeable resistance boost anyway (just have some good armour on).
Also, I believe both of my guests have 999 defence at this point. The multipliers to defence they get are crazy due to their innate resistance. However, even with 900+ magic resistance they still seem to suffer decent enough damage from magic attacks. I wonder why.
Too bad I couldn't recruit the Terror Knight. First two persuasion attempts failed even though he had low loyalty and was near critical health (plus status'd the second time), and then he woke up and got killed in a counter by... a barehanded archer...). Oh well, next time maybe.
