In healthy, exercising individuals, the overwhelming majority of the published science indicates that arginine is not effective for improving exercise performance

Some individuals will state that arginine is effective for increasing levels of nitric oxide production, but once again the overwhelming majority of the published science in healthy individuals indicates that arginine is not effective for augmenting nitric oxide levels

Other individuals will make the argument that arginine is effective for increasing muscle blood flow. But (and you’ve heard this before) the overwhelming majority of the published science in healthy individuals indicates that arginine is not effective for increasing muscle blood flow

What about arginine’s ability to spike growth hormone levels? The majority of the published research in this area also indicates that arginine has no effect on growth hormone levels

The only potential for arginine as a dietary supplement is for people with cardiovascular/metabolic limitations (heart disease, diabetes, etc.); in these populations, there MAY be some potential benefit for arginine supplementation

If you are a healthy individual and you are supplementing with arginine because you believe it will improve your exercise performance, increase your nitric oxide levels, augment muscle blood flow, or spike endogenous growth hormone levels—you can stop spending your money on this supplement. It does not do these things!

Please don’t base your opinions on 1 solitary research article publication—attempt to base your opinions on the totality of the scientific evidence available. If you do, you will come to the same conclusions about arginine as I do
