Chicago iPhone Filmmaking Initiative

High School students from across Chicago joined in the Chicago Stories mobile filmmaking program. The goal: to prove that anyone can make a film with tools they already have. Teams shot short documentaries with iPhones.

Chicago Public Schools teamed up with Apple and LumaForge to provide mentors and basic filmmaking tools. Students shot on iPhone using FiLMiC Pro. iOgrapher cases were used to mount the iPhones to tripods. Students ran lavalier microphones into separate iPhones for recording clean audio using Apogee MetaRecorder. The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 was used for moving shots.

In post production, they edited using Final Cut Pro X on standard iMacs and MacBook Pros. Each computer was connected to the LumaForge Jellyfish Mobile. This enabled teams to work collaboratively during post production.
