Money is a not a bad thing:

Holy Prophet peace be upon him said:
“How admirable is pure money for a righteous person” (Musnad Ahmad 5-272)

On another occasion He (P.B.U.H) said: “This money is green and luscious (like ripe fruits), so he who takes it rightfully, then what a great aid it is for him!” (Ibn abi al Dunya in Islah al Maal and with other wordings by Muslim 6883)

Therefore, to seek, spend and protect money can all be acts of worship, if done with correctness and purity of intention.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying what Allah has blessed you with.
Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Four things are part of happiness: a righteous spouse, a spacious dwelling (big house), a righteous neighbor, and a comfortable mount(mode of transport). Four things are part of misery: a bad neighbor, a bad spouse, a restrictive dwelling, and a bad mount.” — Ibn Hibban

On the other side Holy Prophet peace be upon him told us to pray to stay away from poverty.

Holy Prophet peace be upon him said: “Seek refuge in Allah from poverty, and destitution (hardships), and that someone wrongs you or you wrong others.” (Al Haythami in Majma al Zawaid 10-143)
