Devils Food Chocolate Cake (Courtesy of the Food Nanny)

Serves 8-12

1 Devils Food cake mix, NOT with pudding in it

16 oz. (2 cups) sour cream

4 large eggs

1 small package, 3.9 oz chocolate instant pudding mix

1/2 cup canola oil

1/2 cup water

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. With a rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Very generously grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
2. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, sour cream, eggs, pudding, oil and water all together until well blended. Add the chocolate chips. Do not over mix.
3. Pour into cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with just a hint of moist cake on it. Remove cake immediately and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
4. Turn cake out onto a cake platter very carefully.
5. Frost bottom layer of cake. Place second layer on top of bottom layer and frost.

Chocolate Frosting

4 cups powdered sugar

2/3 cup cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon coarse salt

1 cup butter, room temperature

1 tablespoon vanilla

2 tablespoons corn syrup

1/3 cup milk or heavy cream

1. Stir powdered sugar, cocoa and salt together in a medium bowl.
2. In another bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy with an electric mixer for 3 minutes. Beat in the vanilla and corn syrup. Beat in the sugar mixture, one cup at a time.
3. Blend in the milk/cream. Whip on high speed for 2 more minutes. Add more milk if necessary to spread easily.
