and pays tribute to Jan Marshall who died of cancer in 2012.

Jan was very much a gypsy and a bit of a legend around the Top End, having spent her life travelling around Nth QLD and the NT.

Though she'd had a hard life herself, since meeting Jan and her family in the mid '90s, I've always been struck by their warnth, generosity, courage and closeness.

She is survived by her 6 children, 3 of whom lent their words to the bridge in the song and her eldest son Luke, told the story of a gypsy legend at her wake. The legend goes that gypsies die 3 deaths - the first when their body dies, the second when they're buried in the earth and the third when people stop speaking their name.

May we never stop speaking her name.
