If you want to know how to reprogram your subconscious mind, you might be curious to know whether you should stop using affirmations.

Before giving any form of an answer its first worth being clear on what an affirmation is. An affirmation is a statement affirming something is true.

Now to give a short answer it depends on what you’re using them for and affirmations can be an effective way of reprogramming your subconscious mind if done correctly.

To give a longer more detailed answer I will go through when not to use affirmations, when to use affirmations and how to use them effectively.

A limitation compared to other techniques is that when using affirmations you’re using your conscious mind which acts as a filter and a barrier to what gets through to the subconscious mind.

This is why approaches such as hypnosis can achieve results in a single session that may take months or even years from affirmations.

With that said what I’m going to go through soon will allow you to get greater results by using affirmations to communicate to yourself on both a conscious and subconscious level.

You want to avoid using affirmations for short term goals or manifestations, as getting the most from affirmations you want to use them in a way that can be used over a long period of time.

You can, however, use affirmations that are aligned with a short term goal such as having a great audition if you’re an actor or actress.

Such as rather than affirming:
“My audition has gone great.”
A more effective longer-lasting affirmation you can use is:
“I have great auditions as I’m a confident world-class actor/actress.”

Also, avoid using affirmations for very specific short term affirmations, this restricts how something can be manifested and you’re better of using different techniques.

Affirmations are best used to affirm and create the feeling and beliefs for something that will bring you continuous benefits ideally over a lifetime.

Such as affirmations that affirm you’re passionate, confident, or something that you currently feel that you’re lacking that will benefit you.

A belief is just a feeling of certainty whether something is or isn’t true. When using affirmations your goal should be to create the feeling for what you’re affirming.

To achieve this you want to embody the state of what you’re affirming, by state I mean the emotional state of mind you’re in at that moment. If you want to know more about managing your state watch:

Ideally, you only should use affirmations to strengthen and reinforce a belief you already have a slight belief in rather than trying to affirm something you feel the complete opposite about.

For best results focus on repetitively using the same affirmations until you strongly feel them being true regardless of how many weeks it takes.
