One man’s quest to rescue, restore and honour a 100-year-old maritime cottage 🏠🔨 | ABC Australia

Leon Deschamps would often drive past a dilapidated cottage in the seafaring township of Geraldton and wonder at its history. So when his wife and brother charged him with buying a house in Geraldton he wasn’t deterred by the real estate’s description of the old cottage – “renovate or detonate”. He'd fallen in love with the aging cottage and bought it with dreams of honouring its maritime past. With work now under, he admits it’s an “exercise in optimism”. But he’s loving the process of restoring the cottage to its former glory.
