Gong Extensions is a quartet with Guillaume Vanespen (gong with the bow), Grégoire Tirtiaux (alto and baritone saxophones), Yann Lecollaire (bass clarinet) and Sylvain Debaisieux (tenor saxophone), replaced here by Frans Van Isacker (alto saxophone)

The music of Gong Extensions is organized around the sound spectrum of the gong played with the bow, unfolding its rich over/sub-tones, creating waves, resonances, vibrations,...
The 3 woodwinds musicians, playing in circular breathing, join the spectral matter of the gong, amplify it and color it.

The music of Gong Extensions presents itself as a kind of new spectral drone music that is at once meditative, classical, contemporary and microtonal, composed of long, continuous notes that overlap, blend, and transform, alternately shifting between light and shadow, tension and release, composing vast, colorful, and contrasting soundscapes, in perpetual transformation.

Special Guest Atsuko Hatano :
Atsuko Hatano is an experimental string player based in Tokyo, Japan, and a prolific composer, music arranger, and improvisational live musician. She plays the five-string viola, violin and cello, and constructs innovative compositions of multi-layered electronica.
