There are various times to trim a beard and different techniques. I'm always asked the question "when should I trim my beard?". If you're looking to grow a full big beard it's best to wait as long as you can to trim. Ideally you want to wait to trim until you've reached the desired length for your beard.

The reason for waiting to reach your goal length before trimming is because trimming will just prolong the time it takes to where you are going with your beard. Another big reason is that when you trim you are putting your beard in immediate danger as a lot can go wrong during trimming.

A maintenance trim is performed when you want to keep your beard at a desired length. I find myself performing this trim every 3-4 weeks depending on the rate of growth for my beard. This type of scissor trim shouldn't be confused with shaping or reshaping. This is solely to trim the long ends that have presented themselves since the last reshaping.

Again, as I say in all my trimming videos whether it's the beard or mustache, you want to just trim "crumbs". Make all of your cuts very small. Stay away from taking off too much hair at once or making big sweeping cuts.
