A day after Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commission was breached in Agartala, Dhaka took action against Indian envoy. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma was summoned by Yunus-led interim government, reported Daily Star. Speaking to reporters after his meeting, Verma said that India and Bangladesh have a wide-ranging and multifaceted relationship that cannot be reduced to one issue. On Dec 02, MEA condemned the incident of breach of premises at Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala. Issuing a statement, MEA said the incident was “deeply regrettable” and stressed that “Diplomatic & consular properties should not be targeted”. MEA’s statement came after demonstrators broke into the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala. The situation in Bangladesh has been marked by increasing violence against minority communities after the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das. Chinmoy Krishna Das has been charged with sedition for allegedly hoisting a saffron flag above Bangladesh's national flag in Chittagong on Oct 25. Following the incident, several protests were taken out in parts of India condemning the incident.
