Learn how to create a creaking and squeaking foley sound effect using foam meat trays. Foley sound effects are added into movies after filming to make the movie sound more realistic.

Here’s how I do it. I first wash the meat trays with dish soap and warm water and they dry them off. After this, I stack them. The trays are then squeezed and rubbed together. The result is a squeaking or creaking sound. This sound effect can be created using either one or two people. Experiment a little bit, to optimize the sound for your particular circumstance. It takes a little bit of practice. The trays can almost be played like a very simple musical instrument.
