The U.S. government is urging Americans in certain parts of Mexico to shelter in place following road blockages and criminal activity connected to security operations that began February 22.
📍 Affected Areas:
• Jalisco State (Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Chapala, Ciudad Guzman)
• Nayarit State (Nuevo Nayarit / Nuevo Vallarta area near Puerto Vallarta)
U.S. government personnel in:
Guadalajara
Puerto Vallarta
Ciudad Guzman
are currently sheltering in place until blockades are cleared. U.S. citizens are urged to do the same.

• All airports in Mexico remain open.
• Most airports nationwide are operating normally.
• Some (not all) flights are departing from Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
• Flights have begun departing Puerto Vallarta again.
• Multiple airlines are operating as of the afternoon of Feb 23.
If flying:
✔ Confirm your flight before heading to the airport.
✔ If cancelled, consider rerouting through another Mexican city.
🚗 ROAD CONDITIONS
• No official road closures ordered by local authorities.
• However, some roads in Jalisco State — including the Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta corridor — are not fully reopened.

Baja California (Tijuana, Tecate, Ensenada), Quintana Roo (Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Tulum), Colima, Guanajuato, Estado de Mexico, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, and Zacatecas.
