I’m 16 and live between my divorced parents’ homes, juggling half-siblings from both sides. My youngest half-sister (6) is sweet, but she’s extremely attached to me and wants to follow me everywhere. I try to be kind, but I’m not a built-in babysitter.

When I was getting ready to go to a friend’s birthday, my stepmom told my little sister she could come with me—without asking me first. I was put on the spot and guilted into taking her along, even though I just wanted one afternoon with my friends. Before leaving, I snapped and told my stepmom that her daughter wasn’t my responsibility.

Now I’m being called disrespectful and ungrateful, even though I still took my sister with me. So was I wrong for losing my temper, or was my stepmom wrong for volunteering me without my consent? AITA?
