Low-income New Yorkers face many complicated and interrelated barriers in creating financial stability for themselves, their families, and their communities. While there is no single, global solution and no single measure of “success”, many organizations are working hard to create pathways for financial empowerment for those who need it the most.

The 2024 POTS Breakfast Forum presented actions taken to promote employment opportunities, workforce development, and entrepreneurship, in particular seeking to empower underserved communities in New York City.

Our panelists from the NYC Department of Small Business Services and the New York City Employment and Training Coalition shared about their work in the city, lessons learned after the pandemic, initiatives to empower underserved communities, and opportunities for the future.
