If there's one thing I've learned over the past couple of months is that your flying style is directly correlates with how much you trust your gear.

I've learned a lot about how to build freestyle fpv drones, the strengths, the weaknesses, how to make sure you feel confident that the drone will in fact fly and do what you want it to do.

As I homed in on near-perfect setup for myself, I found it easier to go for gaps that I otherwise instinctively would avoid or back out of. However, I noticed that I really had to push myself; I had to convince myself that I could actually make this gap.
I had to tell myself that I could actually trust my gear. I had to remind myself that I know it can do this. I just have to believe it.

The main ingredients for me?
The video links is the DJI digital FPV system. Since I have a lower reaction time than most people, I can't react as much as I need to be able to anticipate. Therefor having the better video signal of the DJI FPV system gives me better clarity helps me to understand what I see while I see it. The 'bad latency' penalty that comes with the DJI FPV system (compared to analog video links) is worth it as I can see 'further' and thus have the necessary time to mentally prepare to what is coming towards me.

The radio link is TBS Crossfire. The uncontested king of the hill. The never-again-failsafe radio link. I haven't upgraded to Crossfire shot just yet but that's coming soon. I'm wondering how that will affect my flying.

The stack is a Diatona Mamba F722SE stack. I have been flying this thing for about a year now. They haven't failed me once. Gyro's, ESC and the built-in bluetooth Speedybee connection make this a simple decision. They are a bit expensive but then again, once airborne, this quad including the GoPro is worth around 700€. It's worked for me and to this date, there's nothing I require that it doesn't do.

The motors are Ethix Mr Steele Silk V3's. They are super lightweight, mega smooth and crazy efficient. With an all-up weight of around 670gr (including a GoPro Hero 7 Black), these motors (combined with Dal Cyclone 5040C props) give me around 5-7 minutes of freestyle freedom (4s 1550mah lipo). They have caught me in every dive, and have given me the precision I need for my type of flying. They are a bit expensive and if you look at them wrong, the bell is deformed but beyond, so that is a bit of a bummer. But I still feel they're worth it.
