Cartridge #004:
A few days ago I was in this old almost empty mall while I was travelling and inside I found something tucked behind a shelf, in a department store that looked like it hadn't been touched since 2005. No box, no manual too, I was so confused, it was just a translucent, smoky-grey cartridge gathering dust in the dark. It shouldn't exist. A bootleg? A prototype? I wasn’t sure. But when I cleaned the contacts, and gave it the good old trusty hard blow inside and booted it up, I didn't find a game. I found what you’re gonna hear, a completely reimagined, jazz-infused soundscape of the Hoenn region that I grew up on. If someone can help me find out more about the author and who created, please reach out to me. Till then I’m uploading this footage one by one to document this lost media, archiving these tracks for the internet before the data dies or something happens to this.

In reality, Cartridge Dust is the culmination of a vision I’ve had for years. This isn't just content you’ll be consuming in the back, it’s a wayyyyy long overdue passion project that I am finally rolling out after months of dedicated work. The outcome was hopefully something so good that I would listen to it alongside the frutiger aero mixes I’m always bopping to on Youtube.

I am a musician first. I’ve spent years playing piano and the sax, and just as many years behind the board mixing and mastering. I have always wanted to pay homage to a bunch of the soundtracks I grew up with, but I wanted to do them justice, to make them sound as rich and complex as they felt in my little childhood memories.

That is where the technology comes in! With the recent updates in generative audio, I realized I could finally bridge the gap between my concepts and reality. This music is a heavy collaboration between human direction, samples, and generative audio & mixing! The AI played such a big role here, taking over the instruments and parts of the production areas where I had absolutely no experience in, and would always fail. It allowed me to boost my attempts and finally finish a project that had been stuck in my head for years. This is a reinterpretation of the classics, built with new and old tools but also my little human brain and fingers.
