Recall Training - Results

DJ (Didge), a Blue female working Kelpie, came to us about 2 weeks ago with zero recall, no manners, and the profound wish to simply ignore commands, escape and run away.

She was rescued as a "release to rescue only" due to her behaviour (could not be risked being re-homed to the general public due to behaviour) from Renbury Farm animal shelter in NSW, Australia.

Didge's recall training firstly came from on lead training, then progressed to training with a long/lunge lead (approximately 5 metres), and is now at the point where her recall and attention is quite good. Over time with reinforcement in training this can lead to what we name "perfect recall", being that the dog will return to us at any time, no matter what the situation, or what pressure the dog is under.
