Hanwei Great Wave Katana

This a fantastic example of the classic katana design. Hanwei created all the classic looks well done at a decent price. For a mid-level katana with a T-10 blade this sword handled almost effortlessly and cut beautifully. This is a solid bodied blade (no bohi) and yet was very well balanced. The saya was a bit lose and rattled a bit ... but at this price point I could hardly complain. The only part of this katana that I had an issue with is one I seemingly have an issue with when it comes to most Hanwei katanas ... the tsuka. I found it very flat and angular feeling in my hand. And while I know this is a good training tool to learn edge alignment ... as a matter of person taste I'm not a big fan. This is largely negated by the fact that the blade is so well done.
